Bursary Opportunity
Valuing Education, the Municipality of the County of Kings offers bursaries each year to assist in reducing barriers for local students to pursue further educational opportunities, and to enhance the ability of young people to make meaningful contributions to their communities.

Graduating students are invited to write a short essay (750 to 1000 words) answering the following question,
Kings County’s future depends on engaged, skilled, and community-minded young people.
Tell us about a meaningful contribution you have made to your school or community.
- How did this experience help shape your understanding of leadership and community responsibility?
- Looking ahead, how could you apply what you have learned to help make Kings County a place where you would want to live, work, or return to after graduation?
- What do you think the Municipality could do to help support that future?

Award: There will be a total of six (6) $1000 scholarships awarded to graduating students; one from each of the following six (6) Kings County’s high schools:
- Central Kings Rural High School
- École Rose-des-Vents
- Horton High School
- Kings County Adult High School
- Northeast Kings Education Centre
- West Kings District High School
Student applicants must also be a resident of Kings County (municipality) to be eligible to receive the award; residents of the Town’s (Berwick, Kentville and Wolfville) are not eligible and should contact their respective Town to inquiry about available opportunities.
Award Purpose: To provide $1,000 in financial assistance to support students in pursuing post-secondary education by helping offset the costs of tuition, books, or other related expenses.
Criteria for Selection: Submissions will be graded based on cover page, completion of the question, creativity and depth of response, spelling and grammar.
Submissions must include a cover page featuring the student’s name, civic address, mailing address, phone number, email address and high school.

By submitting your application, you are authorizing the Municipality of Kings to provide your submission to the bursary essay evaluators, and that all or part of this nomination may be made available to the public in accordance with the federal Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
