Where are you from and what is your background?
I am originally from Newfoundland but have called Kings County home since 1994. I currently reside in Coldbrook with my wife, Jody Dixon (MacLennan), where we’ve lived since January 2020. For 20 years, I worked in retail management with companies like Zellers, Staples, Home Depot, and Workplace Essentials. In 2015, I transitioned to entrepreneurship, co-founding Safeguard Property Management with my business partner, Mellisia Ansems-Ellis.
Why have you chosen to run for office?
I am running for office because I have always felt a strong desire to give back to the community I’ve grown to love. I have served as the past President of the Kentville Kinsmen, a Paul Harris Fellow and former member of the Rotary Club of New Minas Sunrise, past President of the Kentville Business Community, and former Chairman of the Board for the Valley Regional Enterprise Network.
What strengths would you bring to Council if elected?
If elected, I believe my 30 years of business experience will be a valuable asset to the council. My skills in problem-solving, time management, and a down-to-earth approach will contribute to making sound decisions for our community.
What do you feel are key issues in this election and how would you address them?
Through my canvassing, I have discovered several key issues, but it all comes down to one thing: responsiveness. As your Councillor, I may not always have the answers, but I pledge to do everything I can to find them for you.
What is one message you would like to send to voters?
My message to voters is simple: I have always worked hard to achieve success in my life, and I pledge to bring that same dedication and work ethic to serving as Councillor for District 6. I am your neighbour with the experience, work ethic and background to get the job done.
