Where are you from and what is your background?
I was born in Wolfville and raised in Grand Pré, where I continue to live today. With a background in education, I spent 30 years as an industrial arts teacher before retiring. My roots in this community run deep, and I’ve been honored to serve as councillor for District 9 for the past two terms, working hard to represent and advocate for our residents.
Why have you chosen to run for office?
I’m running for municipal council because, as a homeowner, parent and grandparent, I’m deeply committed to keeping our county a great place to raise a family. I believe that building a thriving community requires all of us working together. With my experience serving this community, I have the tools and dedication needed to be an effective council member. I’m committed to working hard to ensure your voice is heard and that our county continues to grow as a place we can all be proud of.
What strengths would you bring to Council if elected?
I bring a deep understanding of our community, gained both through my experience before joining council and in my current role as councillor for District 9. Having built personal connections with many constituents, I’m well versed in the issues that matter most to our residents. One of my key strengths is my ability to listen and find common ground. I believe that meaningful progress starts with open dialogue, and I’m committed to continuing to listen, collaborate, and work toward solutions that make a positive impact for everyone.
What do you feel are key issues in this election and how would you address them?
The key issues in this election are affordable housing, sustainable development, and infrastructure improvements. Many residents are feeling the pressure of rising housing costs, and we need to ensure that people of all income levels can continue to live and thrive here. I will advocate for more affordable housing options and work with developers to create solutions that benefit everyone.
Sustainable development is also critical. We need to grow in a way that respects our environment while providing opportunities for businesses and residents. I support green initiatives that reduce our environmental footprint while fostering economic growth.
Lastly, our infrastructure; roads, public spaces, and utilities need continual investment. I will prioritize upgrading and maintaining these essential services to ensure safety, efficiency, and accessibility for all residents.
My approach to these issues is simple: listen to the concerns of the community, collaborate with experts, and take action that aligns with both our present needs and future aspirations.
What is one message you would like to send to voters?
I want to thank the people of Kings County, and especially those in District 9. You’ve been with me from the start of my journey as a councillor two terms ago. Our District embodies values of honesty, pride and a willingness to help neighbors in need, and I’m deeply grateful for that. I ask for your trust and support, and in return, I will work tirelessly to represent your interests and ensure our community continues to thrive. I’m optimistic about our county’s future and look forward to continuing to work together.
