Where are you from and what is your background?
Growing up in Black River, I've had the privilege of calling Kings County home for most of my life. Early on, you could find me working on my family's multi-generational dairy farm. Experiences from the Farm have demonstrated both the value and benefits of hard work, dedication & teamwork while instilling the importance of supporting local agricultural initiatives.
Like many Nova Scotians, I spent a few years out West. After starting a family, it was clear to me that the Annapolis Valley was the only place where I wanted my son to grow up. Our backyards, fields, vineyards, lakes and coastlines are stunning! The pace of life is just a bit slower. Ultimately though, it's the people here that makes this place so special. Friendly people helping out their neighbors. Generous folks, donating their time or hard-earned money.
As a proud Acadia Alumni, I have spent the majority of my career in people management. My success was earned by building inclusive, cohesive & thriving work environments where the diversity of talents shine. Two years ago, my career transitioned into a Senior Financial Advisory role. I enjoy helping our community members plan for their financial future, that of their family and in a sense, the Municipality as a whole.
In my down time, I enjoy coaching my son's sports teams, playing soccer and exploring our local farmer's markets.
Why have you chosen to run for office?
Our community is both warm and resilient but there have been instances in the past several years that have had me pause for concern. It's imperative that our voices be heard. I have chosen to run for office because I want to provide our residents a fresh perspective. It would be a privilege to advocate for our district & its constituents.
What strengths would you bring to Council if elected?
I will work hard for our community, be a strong voice and commit to dedicating my time. I’m confident, and come with the knowledge that a collaborative approach is the only way.
What do you feel are key issues in this election and how would you address them?
Feedback from the campaign trail has determined many pain points. "One of our key fire departments was on the line, Our tax dollars are not being used to the best of their abilities, Our lack of affordable housing, Community has little to no input on services and funding." If elected, your voices will be heard. I will bring a level of transparency to my decision-making and you can trust that I will put our residents’ wants and needs first. I will be active within the district; talking with you to receive your feedback on the issues on hand, and acting on your behalf!
What is one message you would like to send to voters?
Voters - make your voice heard! By using your vote, you have a say. Elect the individual you feel most capable of bringing your concerns to the forefront and following them through until the end.
