Where are you from and what is your background?
I am from the County of Kings. I grew up in Factorydale on a small farm south of Aylesford. I attended West Kings District High School and attended Nova Scotia Community College in Kentville and Holland College in PEI. With Certificates in Quality and Operations Management, along with many other Courses from Del -Tec in Halifax NS. I am trained in Health and Safety and hold wastewater licences. I live at Lake George at the present time. I have worked in transportation, employed at Michelin North America Canada, and the last 25 years at the Town of Berwick in Public Works, during this time I was responsible for large budgets and have solid understanding of the budget process.
In the community, I have served 23 years with a local Lions Club where I have held the role of Past President, member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ortona 69 Branch and the Canadian Blood Services.
Why have you chosen to run for office?
Why I have chosen to run for office, I have experience managing Public Works for many years and budgets. I really want to give back to this great County of Kings I call home; I have always been a person to step up and help to make a difference. I have the training, and I am a good listener, and I want your Tax dollars to be used to work for all our County not certain areas and forget about the others.
What strengths would you bring to Council if elected?
I do listen to the people, I ask questions, I thank the hard-working municipal staff who dedicated people behind the scenes are. My training over the years has helped me bring stability to the Council Chambers and to understand we have only one way to raise money is property tax.
What do you feel are key issues in this election and how would you address them?
The key issues are Planning, infrastructure for new development, Police, Fire services, Water and Wastewater, Building inspection, I would address these issues by having round tables on each large issue and having Council have outside people speak on the issue that affect them and have more understanding of what is the best path forward. I know that we need to support some areas more with funding and others on the ways we do things smarter and better.
What is one message you would like to send to voters?
The message I send to voters is that I do listen to their concerns, When I vote to spend your tax dollars, I am spending mine as well. I bring great knowledge to the Council on many areas, but always willing to hear the other side. I will always try to advocate for spending on what is good and needed for the County, not to put the County in debt for the next fifty years to keep up with our neighbouring counties. We must spend the tax dollars wisely.
