Municipality of the County of Kings Holiday Card Contest
We need your help, Kings County! Who better to help us spread holiday cheer than the people living right here? Artists between the ages of four to 13 can enter for a chance to win the "Municipality of the County of Kings Holiday Card Contest" by sending us an original drawing that could be used on the front of the Municipality’s holiday cards for December 2024.
Entries for the contest are due no later than November 15.
Who can enter the contest?
This contest is for young artists living in Kings County. Winners will be selected in the following age groups:
- Ages four to six
- Ages seven to nine
- Ages ten to thirteen
What should I draw?
The Municipality of the County of Kings loves to celebrate diversity and inclusion! Show us what being in Kings County during the December holidays (Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa, for example) means to you. These questions might help you get started on your drawing:
- How do you celebrate?
- What’s comes to mind when you think of festive fun?
- What’s your favourite holiday tradition or event?
Will there be prizes?
Yes! It’s possible at least one winning design will be printed on the front of the holiday cards the Municipality mails out this year. The winning artist in each age category will receive:
- 10 printed holiday cards featuring their artwork on the front
- A $50 in Rec Bucks toward any Municipality of the County of Kings Recreation Services programming
- Artwork featured on social media and the Municipality’s website
All participants will be entered for a chance to win a gift card from a local farmers market of their choosing.
What are the contest rules?
- Artists are welcome to use pencils, ink pastels, markers, crayons, or paint to make a flat design that is easy to copy and print. Please save your glitters and stickers for a future work of art.
- Artwork must be original and made by the youth participating in the contest. Please only submit one entry per person.
- Please use one side of a piece of plain white paper (8.5 by 11 inches in size).
- Entries are due by not later than Nov. 15.
How do I enter my drawing?
- Email a high-res photos or scan of the artwork to recreation@countyofkings.ca or;
- Drop it off at the front desk of the Municipal Complex at 181 Coldbrook Village Park Drive or;
- Mail entries to: "Holiday Card Contest" 181 Coldbrook Village Park Dr. Coldbrook, N.S. B4R 1B9
*Participating schools can make arrangement for a municipal employee to collect drawings by contacting recreation@countyofkings.ca.
What information should be included with every entry?
- Artist’s name, age, and community of residence
- Contact information for a parent or guardian (This will solely be used to inform the winners.)
How will the winners be selected and announced?
The Municipality is excited to see the holidays through your eyes. One winner will be selected from each age group. The winners will be contacted directly and announced on the Municipality’s @KingsCountyNS Facebook and Twitter accounts.
What will the artwork be used for?
It is possible entries will be shared on social media and displayed in the Municipal Complex. Please let us know if you do not want your entry shared publicly when you submit.
