I was elected in October 2020 to represent District 1, which encompasses the Villages of Canning and Port Williams and the communities of Atlanta, Arlington, Baxters Harbour, Bennett Bay, Blomidon, Canard, Delhaven, Glenmont, Habitant, Hillaton, Kingsport, Medford, Pereau, Ross Creek, Scots Bay, Sheffield Mills and Woodside.

I moved to Nova Scotia from Ontario over 20 years ago, eventually choosing to settle in Canning about 16 years ago. I quickly fell in love with the medley of natural beauty that the Valley offers. The energy of people working toward a common goal felt like the best way to meet people, so I started to volunteer. Along with multiple one-time volunteering efforts, I joined a variety of boards & committees.

Passionate about rejuvenating the downtown and bringing new businesses to the Canning area, I joined the Canning Area Business Development Association (CABDA) in 2008 as a Board member and was on the Beautification Committee as well as the Branding Committee before becoming President/Facilitator in 2017.

In the hope of bringing a fresh perspective, positive attitude, and acquired business and life skills, my offering as Councillor for District 1 couldn’t be more timely. My goal is opening dialogue, bringing practical, common sense solutions to the table, so that all Districts benefit.

Having lived off the grid (for 5 years in Northern Ontario) & being a lover of people, nature and food, sustainability is the name of the game to me. Bringing clean energy and sustainable crops will not only keep young people in our area with Green jobs, but will utilize what we already have. Economic Development is another key priority for me. Assisting existing businesses and enticing new ones will expand our growth as a community.

We are fortunate enough to live in a unique and beautiful part of the world with much to offer. Strengthening our future sustainability is one way to ensure longevity for our residents (and future residents) in all areas of Valley life.
