Lexie Burgess joined Council in October 2020. She was elected to represent District 2, which encompasses the communities of Aldershot, Centreville, Gibson Woods, Lakewood, Meadowview, North Kentville, Steam Mill, and Upper Canard.
Lexie grew up in Hants County and was extensively involved in volunteerism within her community and the province as a whole. She was awarded the Queens Golden Jubilee Medal in 2002 for her contributions to her community and Nova Scotia. She sat on the Nova Scotia Youth Secretariat, which sparked an interest in politics.
Lexie is a certified Educational Assistant and Level 1 Early Childhood Educator (ECE). She has also taken courses through NSCC for professional development including Organizational Behaviour, Human Resources Management, The Business Environment, and Management Principles. She has also finished a leadership and mentorship program through NSCC while working as an ECE. She is passionate about lifelong learning, both personally and professionally.
Lexie runs a home based childcare business. Her desire to run for Council originates from a lifelong passion for public services and strong community. She believes Kings County has great potential for growth while preserving its small town feel. She is passionate about active living, sustainability and environmental stewardship. Lexie believes in the importance of working as a part of team while fairly advocating for the voices of the people she represents.
Lexie welcomes constituents to reach out to her via email or telephone. She is excited to work towards making Kings County an inclusive place people want to call home.
