I joined Council in October 2020 and was elected to represent District 5, which encompasses the communities of Aylesford, Crossburn, East Dalhousie, Factorydale, Harmony, Lake George, Lake Paul, Milville, Morristown, Nicholsville, South Greenwood, and Tremont, as well as Canadian Forces Base 14 Wing Greenwood.
I live in Lake George, Kings County, with my wife Karen, we have two sons and two daughters and seven grandchildren. I have worked in the Annapolis Valley for most of my life, from farming work to industry and transportation work. I studied quality control at NSCC, and quality and operation management from Holland College. I also hold certificates in many different programs. I joined the Lions Club in Berwick, NS 21 years ago as a way to give back to the community, I am a Legion member believing in supporting our veterans and our members in uniform. I am also a blood donor with over a 151 donations.
I believe in local government that is just, fair, and works close with the people. I understand the need for tax money to pay for all the local programs big and small, but I do not like waste. I would like to see more green ideas in our area such as electric powered buses, County owned cars and trucks going electric, and net zero buildings in the next few years. I would also like to see solar farms owned by the County to offset the price to produce and in the use of this power.
I promote development but we must strive to reduce the red tape and always be working towards helping the customer, the taxpayer. I am a person that thanks the work force that do so much behind the scene, I see how much of what they do. Thank you for this opportunity to try to make a difference in our communities.
