PLEASE NOTE. Short notice closures may occur when the Province of Nova Scotia Fire Ban and other restrictions are in place to ensure we are doing what we can to keep our wooded areas and our residents safe. We will work to update our website quickly if ever needed.

Directions:

Exit 13 off Hwy 101, south 5 km (3 mi) to English Mountain Rd, right for 1.5 km (1 mi) then left at Aylesford Lake sign. Proceed 17 km (10.5 mi) to beach/boat launch turnoff.

Gates to the beach Open from 10am to 8pm daily during season.

The Public Beach opened for the season with lifeguard service on June 15th, 2024

The Public Boat Launch opened for the season mid April.

FREE Kayak & Paddleboard Program beginning June 30 for walk only - Advance booking will begin July 5.

Site includes:

  • 100m Guarded beach from 10am – 6pm daily
    • Lifeguards supplied by the Lifesaving Society of NS
    • Buoyed section prohibits boats and other watercraft.
  • Paved roadway to gravel parking lot
  • Paved pathways to boardwalk and beach
  • Playbox of lawn games and equipment anyone can use
  • Playground including play structure, swings and a kiddie play area
  • Picnic tables – some covered!
  • Permanent washrooms & change house at beach; Portable toilets available at the public boat launch
  • Paddleboard and kayak loans – FREE!
  • Accessible beach and water space including installed nonslip Beach Access Mat for those with mobility concern including those with walking aids, elderly visitors, or those with strollers.
  • Water wheel floating three-wheeled beach buggy available to borrow for on-site use for those with limited mobility under the direct supervision of responsible caregiver.
  • Wooded walking trail between beach and public boat launch

Service animals are welcome. Sorry no pets permitted on or off leash.

Alcohol, open fires and flotation devices (with the exception of certified PFDs) are also not permitted.

Plan ahead and pack all the snacks & drinks you may need as there is no canteen service available.
Reminder* Drinking water is the best way to stay hydrated and avoid overheating!

Aylesford Beach Barrier Free improvements include paved pathways to key areas on site and accessible paved parking spaces for wheelchair access to the site.

Two accessible play apparatus were also installed making the beach the only inland accessible beach in the Province.
