When do you need a permit?
  • When building a new house, relocations of homes including modular homes, mini homes, and mobile homes
  • When building an addition onto any home or building
  • When building a garage or accessory building
  • Structural repairs or renovations
  • Demolition of a structure

Occupancy Permit

Applicants of a Building Permit will be required to obtain an Occupancy Permit upon completion of such building prior to occupancy.
In accordance with Section 8(b) of the Nova Scotia Building Code Act it is unlawful to occupy a house without an Occupancy Permit.
