Nova Scotia Power Gives Notice of Fish Diversion Plans for Trout River Pond

"Nova Scotia Power hereby gives notice that an application has been made to the Minister of Transport, pursuant to the Canadian Navigable Waters Act for approval of the work described herein and its site and plans.
... Replacement of the fish diversion screens using upstream and downstream cofferdams to isolate the construction area. The new fish diversion screens will occupy the same footprint as the original structure... in, on, over, under, through or across Trout River Pond at Forest Home."

Backflow Valves Reduce the Risk of Destructive Sewage Backups and Flooding

A backflow valve is a device that allows flow in one direction, but not in the opposite direction. It can prevent sewage from flowing into a basement by automatically closing if an unanticipated issue causes sewage to accumulate in piping that typically directs wastewater away from a property.

Everyday Accessibility: The Language We Use to Talk About Disabilities

This shift in thinking from a medical model that emphasizes a person’s disability, to a more social model that emphasizes the person, has led to a person-centered approach in language. However, it is important to remember that persons with disabilities are diverse, and individuals may have their own preferences around language. So, listening and mirroring back the language a person uses to describe themselves is the best way to respect an individual’s identity.
