Pride Month
Pride Month is a time to:
- Celebrate the contributions of persons from 2SLGBTQIA+ community;
- Increase efforts to build awareness;
- Promote human rights;
- Promote diversity;
- Promote inclusive communities; and
- Reflect on the magnificent journey of courage and collective people power that has gotten us to this stage of acceptance, inclusion and legislative protection of the inherent human rights of 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
The Municipality of the County of Kings through the Strategy for Belonging is committed to building a more diverse, inclusive; equitable and just Kings Region. This goal is to enhance the quality of life for all through the provision of Municipal services in an inclusive, effective, and collaborative manner. Importantly, the goal is to achieve the Municipality’s vision of "a community of communities where all people belong."
In keeping with the vision of being "a community of communities where all people belong," the Municipality of the County of Kings has designed an all inclusive month-long calendar of activities, in honour of our 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
Among the list of activities is an official Pride Month launch on June 15, 2023 from 6 - 7:30 pm in Council Chambers at the Council Chambers at 181 Coldbrook Village Park Drive, Coldbrook, NS and online.
Focus of Pride launch:
- Lived experiences;
- The meaning of "a community of communities where all people belong," for County of Kings 2SLGBTQIA+ community;
- Allyship for 2SLGBTQIA+ community within the Municipality and the workplace; and
- Awareness of local Pride groups and events.

Pride Month Radio Campaign:
- Month-long vignettes on the airwaves throughout the day time, inclusive of 2SLGBTQIA+ community members and allies;
- Weekly interviews (June 2nd , 9th, 16th and 23th), inclusive of voices with lived experiences;
- Month-long Digital Pride creatives on multiple websites and social platforms to increase public awareness of 2SLGBTQ+, promote equity, diversity and inclusion to achieve the Municipality’s vision of "a community of communities where all people belong."
