RELIEF & ADVOCACY
As a result of the economic impact of the COVID-19 health crisis, the
Municipality of the County of Kings has recognized an urgent need for
financial relief where possible at the local government level.
Similarly, the Municipality takes seriously its role, on behalf of our residents
and business community, as an advocate for assistance from other levels
of government – especially with respect to accessing income assistance
and payroll/business supports.
The Municipality has created an extensive relief response across our areas
of service delivery.
FOR EVERYONE
Property tax bills, both residential and commercial, are being sent out on
schedule but with the following important changes:
o Interest shall not be charged on any accounts – including current
arrears.
o Payment is not due until July 31, 2020 – a delay of two months.
o Interest will only apply for the month of July if payment is not received

by July 31 .
Customers of the Greenwood Water Utility are also able to take
advantage of an extended due date (July 31, 2020) and interest free period.
The Municipality has launched www.countyofkings.ca/covid19 as an
information resource to support understanding of the impact of COVID-19
on municipal services. We have also significantly increased our radio
presence to ensure the dissemination of critical information to persons in
Kings.
Kings REMO continues to operate with a high degree of efficacy and is
serving as a conduit for sharing information from the Federal and Provincial
governments.
